Easy & Delicious: Baking Cookies in Your Air Fryer
Cookies in an air fryer? Yes, it’s a thing—and it’s brilliant! This recipe from Poppy Cooks: The Actually Delicious Air Fryer Cookbook takes a classic cookie and gives it an air fryer twist. These cookies are soft, chocolatey, and incredibly easy to whip up. Bonus: You probably already have most of the ingredients in your pantry!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2/3 cup light brown soft sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 cups plus 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup plus 2 tbsp milk chocolate, roughly chopped
Instructions
-
Prep the Dough:
- Line a baking tray with greaseproof/parchment paper.
- Using a stand mixer (or a hand whisk), combine the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. No crunchy bits should remain.
-
Add the Dry Ingredients:
- Whisk in the egg, then sift in the flour, baking soda, and cornstarch. Mix until you have a soft dough.
-
Shape the Cookies:
- Roll the dough into balls (3 tbsp each). Roll each ball in the chopped chocolate, then place them on the baking tray. Chill the dough balls in the fridge for at least 10 minutes to firm up.
-
Air Fry the Cookies:
- Preheat your air fryer to 325°F. Line the air fryer basket with greaseproof paper.
- Flatten the dough balls slightly and place them in the air fryer, making sure they’re spaced out. Bake for 12 minutes.
-
Cool and Enjoy:
- Once baked, let the cookies cool in the air fryer for about a minute before transferring them to a rack. Then, dig in!
Tips & Variations
- Make Them Vegan: Swap out the butter, egg, and chocolate for vegan alternatives. (See Poppy Cooks for her exact substitutions!)
- Stuff Them: Add a dollop of hazelnut spread (or your favourite filling) to the centre of each dough ball for a gooey surprise.
- Baking Time Disclaimer: Air fryer models vary, so check cookies after 12 minutes and adjust baking time as needed. They should be golden on the edges and slightly soft in the center.
